Modern renovations increase the energy self-sufficiency of historic buildings
More than a fifth of them have inadequate infrastructure.
More than a fifth of historic buildings in Europe suffer from inadequate infrastructure and low energy efficiency, with only a small percentage undergoing modernization each year. In such cases, sensitive renovations that combine modern technology with respect for historical heritage are essential. Their goal is to increase the energy self-sufficiency of buildings while preserving their authentic appearance. The most common challenges include reconciling technical requirements with heritage protection, the right choice of materials, the sensitive integration of modern elements into the interior, and a shortage of skilled craftsmen.
