Origin Prague
It is a designer hotel in the center of Prague, offering 81 rooms in 9 different categories. Each room type is designed with an emphasis on comfort, tranquility, and a good night’s sleep, and the overall concept blends contemporary design with the character of the original building.
A key element of the project is the concept of seven hidden spots in Prague, which is woven throughout the entire Origin Prague. Original illustrations of these spots can be found in the rooms, in the hallways, in printed materials, and on a striking mural in the courtyard. The atmosphere of each location is also captured in a series of short films created in collaboration with director David Ondříček.
Origin Prague offers guests breakfast, a 24/7 fitness center, the Greenery 1060 restaurant with a wine bar, and a peaceful, lush courtyard that provides a contrast to the hustle and bustle of downtown Prague.
During the renovation, we approached the house with the utmost respect for its history and original character. Our goal was not to obscure the historical elements, but rather to preserve and restore them, and to sensitively integrate them with contemporary materials and technologies.
The reuse of original materials therefore played a major role. We preserved the historic vaults, cleaned and reused the original bricks, and the wood from the original floors was given new life—for example, as ceiling elements in the rooms.
We placed the same emphasis on guest comfort. The rooms are designed with a focus on acoustics, high-quality blackout curtains, heat recovery, a pleasant indoor climate, modular lighting, and high-quality mattresses. Modern technology is integrated in such a way that it does not detract from the building’s historic character but naturally enhances the comfort of the entire stay.
